Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ Review: should you buy Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B review

The Raspberry Pi is the best known micro-computer in the world. This micro-computer, which we can get for less than $ 35, has been a real revolution in the sector of micro-computers and personal servers, because, for that price, we can have a device capable of adapting to the needs of any user, either to play (as a retro-console) as to make the functions of a NAS or home server. In addition, since its initial launch in 2012 until now, the micro-computer has improved a lot while maintaining its price. And the latest version of it is the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B +.

On March 14, 2018 (3.14, the so-called “Pi-Day”) the Raspberry Pi Foundation released to the market to the surprise of all the new Rapsberry Pi 3 Model B +, an improved version of the previous model, the Pi 3, put the sale already in 2016.

This new micro-computer has not meant a change as great as the jump from Pi 1 to Pi 2, or from Pi 2 to Pi 3, but it came as a very important revision addressing two of the main limitations of the micro-computer and leaving the door open for future updates even more powerful.

In terms of power, the Raspberry Pi 3 already had a processor with an acceptable power for the price of the device, in addition to other features, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that, the previous models, did not have.

In addition to a processor 200 Mhz more powerful than its predecessor and a new chip, very important, able to control and manage all the power that manages the micro-computer, the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B + also comes with two very important developments:

A new wireless chip, manufactured by Adafruit, that offers Bluetooth 4.2 and BLE, in addition to Wi-Fi of 5 Ghz for a higher speed. Gigabit Ethernet controlled by the USB 2.0 chip that, although it does not reach 1000Mbps, does offer 300 Mbps without problem, three times more than the previous Pi 3 model.
