EEE PC T91 for just $549! – ASUS to redefine the price range of Tablets?

Looks like ASUS is really going to make the tablets finally popular among the consumers. Let’s face it, tablets have always been confined to the executives and businessmen. The main reason that the tablets were not received nicely in the consumer market was due to high ‘price’. But, with the $549 price tag, ASUS has hit the sweet spot between functionality and price.

Also, we have heard that ASUS has added few really exciting utilities that are very finger friendly. This is already looking like a winner to me.

Samsung N120 not as wide as expected – full specifications revealed

When we first heard about the Samsung N120’s claim that it features not 90% laptop size keyboard, but 100% laptop size keyboard, our initial thoughts were that the N120 is going to be a really wide netbook. But as per Samsung N120 official webpage, the dimensions are 10.27″(w) x 1.19″ x 7.3″ . To give you a better idea of the width, here are the dimensions of the ASUS EEE 1000H: 10.47″(w) x 7.53″ x 1.50.

This means that the N120 is infact smaller width-wise. Now, how did they manage to put in a full laptop keyboard in there? Or is it may be just a new marketing idea by Samsung.

Soon to be launched: Samsung WiMAX MID AKA SWD-M100 AKA Mondi

Samsung is all set to launch SWD-M100 (Mondi) in the US. The design is similar to Nokia N810 which is also a slider MID. I am personally a big fan of slider MIDs as you can hide the keyboard when you do not want to use them. However, there is one thing that sets the M100 aside from the rest of the MIDs available in the market. It runs Windows Mobile 6.1. It will come with Opera Mobile for the web-browsing as the IE in WM 6.1 is only good for mobile websites.  Here are its specifications:

    • 4.3-inch screen
    • WiMAX
    • WiFi 802.11 b/g
    • Bluetooth 2.0
    • Micro SD card slot
    • 3.0 megapixel camera
    • 256MB of ROM
    • TV out

It will only be available from Clearwire in the US.

Commentary: The main question that comes to minds of a lot of people: Is it going to be successful with Windows Mobile 6.1 as its OS? Personally, Windows Mobile is not a bad choice at all especially with so many productivity applications under its belt. Perhaps they should go with the WM 6.5 which offers IE mobile 6 and better interface.

Lenovo Ideapad S9e released in Japan

Lenovo has launched Ideapad S9e in Japan. It is quite similar to the Lenovo Ideadpad S10 which we reviewedfew days back except for the fact that it has 8.9-inch display compared to the 10.2-inch display found in S10. Another major difference is the battery capacity. While the S10 came with a 3-cell battery which barely lasted 2.5 hours, the S9e comes with extended battery, which claims to give you 6.5 hours. Here are some specs of it:

Fidelity Electronics unveils VPC – Very Personal Computer (or Very Shabby Computer?)

Fidelity Electronics have unveiled Very Personal Computer, which has the specifications that were found in the old EEE 2G surf. Weighing at 1.5 pounds, it comes with a shabby WVGA screen and costs $199.

    • 3-hour battery life
    • 2 GB internal storage
    • Ethernet jack

Surprised by the last point? We are as surprised as you are. We are still trying to figure out what the folks at Fidelity meant by 100MHz Internet Browser. We fail to find a single advantage of buying the fidelity netbook over the now old ASUS EEE 2G surf. Wait, we do not even recommend the 2G surf to anyone too!
