Jenn, owner of Pocketables.net has published a nice detailed review about the Kohjinsha SC3. By her review, she seems to be very impressed!
“The Kohjinsha SC3 has come such a long way from the original SA1 series from 2006 that it’s hard to believe they’re actually related. Everything the SA1 did wrong, the SC3 does right . . . and then some! It looks fantastic, is more compact than any other 7-inch UMPC around, has an excellent keyboard and a good selection of ports/features, and performs well under Vista. Battery life is a bit lacking and the unit gets very warm after a bit of use, but all things considered, there is very little to complain about.”
Guys at Laptopmag have got hold of a pre-production unit of Voodoo Envy.
Pulling the 3.4-pound, black glossy ultraportable from its protective sheath doesn’t feel like you are unpacking a normal laptop. And the first sight of the Voodoo fiery red logo feels almost like you have been initiated into a club.
I too like the 5-second OS feature of the Voodoo Envy which is basically a linux based IOS. But, the price is just ridiculous for a notebook. I know, I know this is not a normal notebook. But, still it is a notebook at the end of the day
The Palm Centro is the latest smartphone powered by Palm OS. Some people have said that the Centro is a Treo on a diet. It is slimmer, shorter and lighter than the Treo 680. The Centro has the looks that target the youth, who yearn for a feature packed device with QWERtY keyboard and smartphone features all in a small and light form factor.
Palm Centro looks so small in my hands
Ergonomics and usability
This device weighs at 124gm which is not that light, but considering it being a smartphone, that is not a big figure. It is still lighter than most of the smartphone in the market. The device has nice curves and being small in size, it can easily be operated by one-hand. This is a nice news for the people who don’t want to use both hands to operate the device. The D-pad works well in navigating through the features of the device. The ‘answer’ and ‘end’ are big and easy-to-reach. My thumb was able to get to every part of the screen if I want to use my thumb instead of d-pad. The Centro looks different from other phones. It has front-face QWERTY keyboard but does not look like blackberry. It looks different from the HTC and SE UIQ devices.
It is powered by Palm OS!
Now, the exclamation(!) mark above depicts both happiness and sadness about the Palm OS. Palm OS has been the easiest operating systems ever according to me. It is easier than iPhone. It is simple, fast and stable. Anyone can get accostomed to it very easily as the whole interface is very intutive.
Here comes the bad part. Being powered by Palm OS, it can not multi-tasking. But, due to some nice optimisations done in the device by Palm, it can run media player(Pocket Tunes) in the background while you can do other stuff. Palm OS has great support of applications. For the tech guys, it runs Palm OS garnet 5.4.9
Storage
The device comes with ~69MB of storage out of which ~64MB is user-accessible. The storage memory is non-volatile meaning that the data will remain intact in case the battery is fully drained out. I rememeber that my Palm zire 71 came with 16MB of user avaliable of volatile memory and how frustrating it was to loose data when the battery used to ran out.
Rumor has it that HTC is going to release a special edition of the thier Touch Diamond, HTC P3702. The HTC P3720 sports 128MB of RAM rather than 192MB.
I’m little doubtful about it’s performance with 128MB of RAM. You guys will think that this is plenty but it is not as the Graphic accerlerator inside it alone chews 64MB of RAM. That leaves you just with 64MB of RAM to run your applications. Continue reading “Special Touch Diamond without Prism back”
A Brazlian company is claiming to be the first one to unlock an iPhone 3G. It has been done by using a SIM card adapter. The trick they have used has been used many times to make the phone think that it is on the approved network but actually it is not.
Vertu Essence is an ecologically sensitive mobile handset for the eco-luxury market. The outer casing is made from bamboo. The ceramic titanium core with sapphire crystal screen lasts several lifetimes. Essence comes with lifetime service where cases can be exchanged and firmware can be upgraded. All exchanged parts are reused or recycled by the company meaning that you add nothing to the trash bin.
OK, standing on 3 wheels and being eco-friendly is enough to make itself distinct from the rest of the crowd. Peugeot calls it as a cross between the two wheeler and four wheeler.
It runs on an electric motor. No carbon monoxide! Talk about being clean. Coming clean
Apple says that the copy and paste functions were omitted from the iPhone 3G just because they are of low priority. These functions were put at the end of the ‘Apple’s wishlist‘.
..and then they say, we won’t offer any support to the jailbroken iPhones and iPod Touches :!:
