Nexus 5 New Leak confirms Transparent Navigation, Status Bars

A new batch of images purporting to be running on a Nexus 5 phone with Android 4.4 have shown up on Italian site, and they confirm transparent navigation and status bars with white icons. Right from the lock screen, there is a camera icon that can be dragged to fire up the camera application. You can still swipe the screen to the left to do the same action. On the home screen, there is a new app drawer icon, and the phone icon is new as well.

Samsung Galaxy Gear Can Run Normal Android Apps

Are you are the one who feels that the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is lacking application support? We all know third party app support is quite bad for the Galaxy Gear but if you are ready to some tinkering, you can get full size Android apps working on it just fine. Just keep in mind that you can only run those applications that do not require any Internet connection. Also, you will have trouble finding apps that look decent on its 1.63 inch display.

Nokia Killing Symbian, MeeGo Support at the start of 2014

Believe it or not, but Nokia has already started winding down support for their Symbian and Meego (now Tizen) operating systems as it goes all in for windows phone OS. This was bound to happen as MS is on the verge to purchase Nokia. Couple of years back, Nokia outsourced Symbian software development to Accenture, which has promised full support until 2016.

Download Region Lock For Galaxy Note 3

Samsung has added a region lock on its Galaxy Note 3, but a lot of folks including this site, took offense about something like this. Even unlocked models incorporated region lock of approved countries. Fortunately, folks at XDA have churned out a little app called RegionLock away which does away from this unwanted feature.

You can download it from here or if you are feeling generous, you can also download it from Play store. Latter costs few dollars, but you encourage the developer to work on similar projects in future. Chainfire is the man behind this amazing app. He has even made a video of it.

Galaxy Gear Apps Review

At the Galaxy Gear’s announcement, Samsung stated that the Galaxy Gear smartwatch (that right now works only with the Note 3), would launch with more than 70 apps (which are available through Samsung apps). Folks at droid-life have received a review unit from Samsung and they comment that only few of the important apps have been made available that includes Evernote, Path, Snapchat, Vivino and some more. Downloading apps to your Samsung galaxy gear sounds very easy – just open up the gear manager app on your Note 3, and open up Samsung Apps. Here are few of the screenshots of Samsung Apps user interface.
