Samsung has finally released its thinner and much improved Galaxy Note 2 in Qatar.  Around 150 people were invited to attend its training session that was done by Intertec Group, which is also the authorized distributor for the Samsung phones in Qatar.

Just as everyone of us is unique, so are our usage patterns. Before I continue, let me establish my usage pattern so that you can make a judgment concerning your future experience with the Xperia arc should you decide to pick one up. Since I am on an unlimited data plan, I leave my 3G connection on round the clock, having the phone synchronized to both my  Face book accounts. Entertainment-wise, I listen to around 20 minutes of songs each day on average, deal with around 10 text messages and double that amount for emails in terms of reading and replying. Photo taking is minimal, limited to around 5 or so shots each day – mainly during meals. Apart from that, I do make conversation for around 20 minutes each day. This review will be based on my usage pattern, so depending on how you push your phone, mileage may vary.

Samsung has started selling the Note 2 in UAE for about Dh2,699. Right now, we have been told that is only being sold by folks at Axiom Telecom. Faisal Al Bannai, CEO of Axiom Telecom has confirmed that they already have both Galaxy note 2 colors in stock and ready to ship.

Specs of the Galaxy note 2 look like this – 5.5 inch screen, 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 2GB RAM, 1.6GHz quad core Exynos processor, 3100mAh battery, 1.9MP front camera, 8MP rear camera with LED flash and S-pen.

If you want to flash a new firmware on your Galaxy Note 2 or even root it, you will have to install custom clock work mod recovery (CWM) in it. Keep in mind that after install custom clockwork mod, you are voiding the warranty. So in future, if you wish to send it for warranty, you must flash galaxy note 2 stock firmware. Anyway, here are the instructions for downloading and installing CWM.

-Download CWM recovery file from here and reboot device to download mode
-Open odin and select downloaded file for PDA tab
-Connect device to PC, and wait till device successfully added to com port
-Flash

Following instructions will guide you on how to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. After rooting, you will be able to play with all sorts of advanced apps that involve Super user permission; messing with file system and so on.

-Make sure you have installed adb driver or Samsung Kies on PC
-Download Odin
-Download Galaxy note 2 CWM recovery and reboot device to Note 2 download mode which allows you download firmwares from PC.
-Open odin on your PC and select downloaded file for PDA tab
-Connect device to PC, and wait till device successfully added to com port and flash.

After rooting, we suggest you to visit Play market and update SuperSu and install Busybox which are required for all root apps.

Erafone, a popular phone retailer has started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 2 in Indonesia. Samsung is offering massive cut in official price there – Rp7,499,000 ($780) to Rp5,299,000 ($550). The discount can only be availed by those who are willing to pay via credit card installments for 12 months (at 0 percent interest rate). Also, you need to have credit of one of these companies – BCA, BNI, Mandiri, or Citibank.

You can purchase it on Anytime 200 contract starting today for RM 429 per month that spans over 24 months. The plan includes 250MB of data usage as well. You can fill an online form over MTN’s website to register one for yourself.
