Ubuntu is available for Windows and ARM devices so it was just a matter of time when someone would port Ubuntu to Samsung Galaxy Fold 3. He has got almost every single part to work except for GPS, Camera and Fingerprint.
Here is what is working on the Fold 3 with Ubuntu.

- Lomiri
- Orientation
- Most sensors (ambient light, light, accelerometer)
- WayDroid
- Battery indicator
- DP over USB C
- Flashlight
- 5G/LTE/GSM
And here is list of things that are partially working.
- Dual screen
- Brightness
- Audio which is missing microphone and speaker support.
And what is not working so far includes S-pen support, GPS, camera and fingerprint. Actually, the camera also works but the orientation is off by 90-degrees.
To flash Ubuntu on Fold 3, you can download the ZIP file from here and flash it using TWRP custom recovery. Of course, we suggest installing it on a spare device, on something that you do not use on a day to day basis.
Ubuntu is not exactly phone friendly. We have seen Ubuntu releasing netbook-friendly variants but they are yet to release something that is made for smartphones. Meego was one attempt that was based on Linux, not Ubuntu.
