Gateway LT1001i officially launched in Philippines

Gateway LT1001i has made its way to the Philippines. It comes with a fairly standard netbook specifications:

  • 8.9-inch screen
  • Intel Atom N270 processor
  • Windows XP home edition
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 160GB HDD
  • 802.11 Wi-Fi b/g/n
  • Intel’s Mobile 945GSE chipset
  • Webcam
  • card reader
  • weighs: 1.26kg

It will cost you a little over $400. All those specs makes the LT1001i a great overall netbook. With many netbook companies moving away from the 8.9-inch netbooks, it is nice to see certain companies still rolling out 8.9-inch netbook models.  This will attract those customers who have been looking for smaller netbooks and found 10.2-inch netbooks a bit bulky to carry around.

Dell Mini 10 gets dissected

Dell has published several illustration photos with description of how to disassemble the Dell Mini 10 and gain access to the HDD, CPU and Wireless card. Please note that you will have to take keyboard out in order to get your hands on the aforementioned items. And by removing the trackpad assembly, you can even add TV tuner to the unit. ASUS to showcase the EEE SHELL 1008HA and S121 at CeBIT 2009

Remember the ultra-thin EEE SHELL that we mentioned a couple of days back? Well, ASUS is planning to unveil the SHELL AKA 1008HA at the CeBIT 2009. The SHELL 1008HA is rumored to be slimmer than the current flagship EEE, S101 and will offer more battery life than the EEE S101.

Along with 1008HA, the company will also showcase the recently released S101H, Eee PC T91, Eee PC S121, UX and U-series ultra-thin notebooks and Eee Keyboard. More exciting news coming, the S101’s successor , S121 is also going to be launched, which will have a whopping 512GB SSD drive. Yes, that is not a typo. It will be the first netbook to feature such spacious SSD drive.  However, it is cost you at mind-boggling $1649. For those who want to be remain on the cheap side, they can opt for the 120GB HDD version, which will retail for $899.

At $1649 and with 512GB SSD, one does not need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that the ASUS S121 is directly going to rival the  Macbook Air, which retails more or less, at the same price. However, will it still be called an EEE? That is miles behind of being called as a cheap netbook.

ASUS P565 will not be launched in France

ASUS P565, which was slowly being launched in all parts of the world would not be able to make itself to France. It has already been launched in many parts of Asia as-well-as Europe and is enjoying moderate success. The ASUS underwent a partnership with Garmin to release ASUS-GARMIN branded phones this year. Could that be the reason that ASUS P565 was canceled? Or it was canceled that its successor, ASUS P835 has already been announced. But, then again, ASUS P835 is a ASUS-only windows mobile phone and not a ASUS-GARMIN windows mobile phone.

We enjoyed reviewing the device which was touted as the then world’s fastest PDA-phone.

ASUS P835 (beta) quick tour

Pda.pl were able to get their hands on the pre-production unit of the ASUS P835. They have done a quick overview of the hardware and the Glide Interface. Although, Asus seems to have change the glide interface quite a bit, but it looks quite sluggish. But, we are not complaining much as it is still a pre-production unit. Remember?

Not all Dell Mini 9s are same

It looks like that not all the Dell Mini 9s are same or shall I say “Dell has made an improvement”. The hinge of the old Dell Mini 9 (shown on the right) would not allow the screen to go back as the one shown on the left. The ability to go back more can provide better viewing angles in certain positions, say when you are standing.

My trusty ASUS EEE 1000H can go back a great deal, almost 160-deg or so. It is pity that the older Dell Mini 9’s hinge did not allow the users to let their screens go back as compared to the new Dell Mini 9’s hinge.
