Google Toolbar – make your life easier

If you’re using Google Toolbar 5 for Internet Explorer (or Toolbar’s Firefox version), you can add the Gmail custom button to make your life easier. With the Gmail button, you can get new message alerts, see previews of your mail and use Toolbar’s search box to find any message no matter what page you’re on.

Google Toolbar also has a “Send to” feature: when you click on the “Send to” icon, a Gmail compose window opens that automatically includes a link to the page you’re currently on and any text you have highlighted on that page. This makes it easy to email your friends interesting pages you come across as you browse the web. Continue reading “Google Toolbar – make your life easier”

VIA and NVIDIA – no partnership

There are rumors that the partnership for Netbooks and MIDs between VIA and NVIDIA are now over.

It would have been great if the deal between the VIA and NVIDIA was successful. It could have given rise to netbooks with powerful GPUs. Running more powerful Operating system and games would also have been possible.

Android on a Sidekick – Fake it!

Some people say that Sidekick is for the kid and T-Mobile G1 is for the grown up user. Hardware wise (as-well-as software wise), you cannot even get close to T-Mobile G1, but no one can stop you from faking your Sidekick that it runs Android.

Windows 7 on ASUS EEE 1000H – REPORT with Video

Windows 7 on ASUS EEE 1000H - REPORT with VideoI bit the bullet and installed Windows 7 on the ASUS EEE 1000H.

  • The installation is quite similar to the Windows Vista installation.
  • The installation went fine with no hiccups. It took just 20-25 minutes for the complete installation.
  • During the installation, it did get stuck at 0% for quite some time while “expanding files” and scared me a bit, but after 5 minutes, the percentage started increasing.
  • VGA drivers were automatically picked up
  • Aero was working without any problems
  • IE 8 beta is included

Here is the Video of experience of Windows 7 on ASUS EEE 1000H

The vista gave me a modest Vista experience index of 2.0 (click on screenshot to see it’s original size screenshot). Overall, the performance is quite satisfactory. It is not slower than Vista, if not faster.

So, all in all, Windows 7 should work without problems when it is finally released. Is it too early to comment on the perfomance? Yes, it is. But, so far, no problems at all right now.

See this link to make the drivers run properly on Windows 7. That article is about making the Vista run nicely on the 1000H and applies for Windows 7 too.
