HTC Touch Diamond / O2 Ignito review

The HTC Diamond as it’s name implies, it is designed to make you feel special, just like a real Diamond. Don’t be swayed away by it’s breath-taking design. Underneath lies powerful array of communication radios like WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, Quad-Band, 3G and FM. It proves the world that the Windows Mobile devices can be beautiful, sleek and still pack a lot of horsepower.

Every year, HTC launches a phone that is different from the rest of the crowd. In 2006, they launched HTC Hermes. In 2007, they came out with not one but with two great models: HTC Touch and HTC TYTN II. Touch was made for the consumer class, who yearned for a small, sleek device while the TYTN II was made for the businessman.

In the year 2008, the expectations rose. The people were waiting for a device that could compete with the so called Jesus phone AKA The iPhone. HTC answered our prayers by endowing us with the HTC Touch Diamond. It is sleek, powerful, sexy and has all the modern communication blings.

How does Visual Studio.net (VS.net) works on ASUS EEE 1000H – Programmer’s view

I’ve been received atleast a couple of emails from the programmers to tell them how the Visual Studio performs on the ASUS 1000H. I’ve pointed this already in the full review of the ASUS 1000H that it is perfect for the programmers due to these reasons:

  • Great and very usable keyboard
  • Nice CPU speed
  • Great battery life
  • Adequate screen size
  • Adequate screen resolution

The installation of the Visual Studio.net 2005 went great with no errors. Here is the screenshot of how the Visual Studio looks on the ASUS EEE 1000H. I made a sample web page. You can click on any screenshot to see the bigger actual resolution screenshot.

Running that web page in the browser(F5) Continue reading “How does Visual Studio.net (VS.net) works on ASUS EEE 1000H – Programmer’s view”

HCL MiLeap MH 04, X series, Y series, V series, S series and L series = Just Rebranded products

In this post, we will take a quick glance at the RE-BRANDED HCL products. This means that the HCL does not manufacture any of the products in it’s MiLeap range.

I will make you aware of the devices which the HCL imports and rebrands them as an HCL product.

1) HCL MiLeap MH 04: This is just a rebranded MSI Wind. HCL didn’t even introduce it with better battery. Nothing much to talk about here. Strange thing is that the Wind is also on sale in India and is cheaper than MH 04.

How To Improve battery life of HTC Diamond

HTC Diamond comes with 900maH battery. Even though that figure does not look very impressive on the paper, HTC Diamond has pretty ‘ok’ battery life. But, heavy use of it can drain the battery at a very high rate. I’ve compiled a list of tips that will make your Diamond yield better battery life for sure.

Go to start>settings>connections>Beam. Turn the Beam off from there
Go to start>settings>connections>advanced network. Turn off “HSDPA” if you are not using it right now. It is a huge battery sucker
Go to start>settings>Phone. Go to the Band(tab). Select GSM from the “network type”
Make sure the WiFi radio is off, if you are not using it.
Use the task manager to terminate the applications that are not in use.More the number of applications running in the background implies more load on the CPU and thus, it will suck more battery than you can imagine. Fortunately, almost all versions of the HTC Diamond come with HTC Task Manager to manage the tasks.
Personally, I recommend using the Dinarsoft Handyswitcher (reviewed here) instead as it is much more faster and responsive than the HTC’s own task manager. Before installing it, please make sure to disable the HTC’s task manager. To do this, go to start>settings>system>’task manager’>button (tab)>”untick” both of the checkboxes to disable it.
Make sure the “key lock” is on. It will prevent accidental key presses when your device will be in your pocket. To do this, go to start>settings>system>key lock and select “lock all buttons except power button”.
If none of the above suggestions work for you, sell your Diamond.
