HP unveils the new Mini 2140 Netbook

HP has recently launched new netbook, HP Mini 2140.  This is a long-awaited upgrade for the HP-mini lovers, who were let down by the snail-speed VIA processor. The HP has completely ruled out the VIA processor from the scene and have opted for the Intel Atom N270 processor running at 1.6Ghz. Like it’s sibling mininote 2133, it is surrounded by by all-aluminum casing. HP has also bumped up both the screen-size and resolution to 10.1″ and 1366 x 768 respectively although a lower resolution model with 1024 x 576 resolution is also available. With the 3-cell battery, it weighs a modest 1.3kg

Features

  • Intel Atom N270 processor @ 1.6Ghz
  • 10.2-inch diagonal scratch-resistant HP Illumi-Lite LED display
  • 1024 x 576 or 1366 x 768 resolution
  • 80GB SSD or HDD
  • 92%  full-size QWERTY keyboard
  • VGA webcam
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0
  • 3-cell or 6-cell battery pack
  • HP Dura Keys HP 3D Drive Guard and HP Panel Protection System

From the specifications, it is clear that the HP mini 2140 offers much more than the regular netbooks have to offer. It has a built-in accelerometer to detect free-falls, which locks the head of the HDD so that it does not get damaged. It maintains the excellent keyboard, which was there in the mininote 2133. It has HP Dura-finish on the keys to prolong the life of the keys. It will be launched sometime this month with a competitive price tag of $499.

Indian IT Giant Satyam Computer stock crashes – One of the biggest frauds of Indian capital market

The shareholders of the Satyam Computers have become from Kings to paupers. Although the meaning of the Satyam in Sankrit means “Truth”, but the company has now admitted that they showed inflated profits from the last several years.

What caused it?

The Balance sheet of the Satyam Computers was brimming with non-existent cash and fictitious assets worth around $1 billion, which the company was not able to conceal from the public.

Satyam Chairman B. Ramalinga Raju himself admitted in the letter to the Board of Directors,

Every attempt made to eliminate the gap failed

..and

It was like riding a tiger, not knowing how to get off without being eaten

The shares of the Satyam computers in the Indian Stock market went down from $3.76 (Rs 177) to mind-boggling $0.70 (Rs 33).

All the major stock exchanges throughout the world have already or are going to de-list this stock. All we can say that deepest condolences to the investors of the Satyam Computer stock. Most probably, the company would be taken over by some other giant as it is ripe for the takeover.

In case, you don’t know about the Satyam Computers, it is the company which has more than 53,000 employees and it operates in 65 countries.

It is official – UIQ is history now

Software Company, UIQ which was jointly owned by Sony Ericsson and Motorola has filed in the court of Sweden for bankruptcy. The company’s official say that there is no market and no consumer for the UIQ platform. For those who don’t know about UIQ, it is the mobile OS that powered the Sony Ericsson’s Pxxx series so far, which includes P800, P900, P910, P990 and P1i. It also powered the Motorola A1000.

Last year, with the announcement by Sony Ericsson to use Windows Mobile for their Smartphone range, it was a clear signal that the Sony Ericsson has lost faith in the UIQ platform. To add salt to the wound, Motorola too left the poor UIQ all alone in the game by switching to Android.

It is a known fact that the UIQ had been cutting staff from the past 6 months. Right now, the company is down to just 200 employees. Living and surviving in a competitive phone market is not an easy job. The UIQ, without the support from Sony Ericsson and Nokia, was left crippled to face the likes of iPhone, Windows Mobile, Blackberry and Symbian. The employees of the UIQ are blaming the poor management for the bankruptcy, which is actually not true considering the fact that we saw very less or no development in the UIQ field.

Pink Eee PC S101 – Perfect shades of Pink [EEE PC]

The first question that comes to girl’s mind when we see a gadget is, “Will it come in pink? ” The answer is, “Yes, the S101 is actually now available in pink”. It seems to be making great impressions with another pink-lover. According to pixiestash, the unit oozes high quality and it makes the EEE 701 look like a mere toy. They further extend the comparison by saying that:

The metal parts are not chrome but understated gunmetal, and the crystals embedded in either end of the hinge are subtly sparkly. The keyboard is unfortunately not pink, but the palm rest and multitouch trackpad are brushed metal and color-matched to the pink cover. Even the case is classier than the 701’s, in brown, padded ultrasuede with matching drawstring bag for the cable and power brick.

Japan already got the hot pink version of S101in December 2008.
