Sony Ericsson sales slump. Net profits fall way too much!

Sony Ericsson is planning to cut nearly 2,000 jobs due to poor sales. Sales have reportly fallen from 3.11 billion to 2.82 billion. Net profits have fallen to 97% according to the Q2 report :!:

  • Their mid range phones have not sold too well.
  • Their high-end phones are poor to what the market is currently offering.
  • Clearly, a lack of innovation.
  • They completely lack WOW-factor phones like iPhone, Nokia N95 and Nokia E90
  • Sony Ericsson X1is still to be launched.

Make your HTC Touch DIAMOND Quad-Band

Impossible has been done again by the folks at XDA-devs. They have been able to add/activate 850mhz band to the HTC Touch Diamond. All you need to get the Quad Band radio available there.

Please note that the faint-hearted should not do this. If anything goes wrong, you may be left with a bricked diamond.

..and I apologize not to mentioning the URL of ROM as it is against our website’s policies. But, hey it is easy :!:

Me Impressed with HTC Touch Diamond? NO, I'm not

I went to my local store to check out the latest Gadgets available there. I saw a Touch Diamond and used it for a while.

My impressions:

  • VGA is beautiful on the 2.8″ screen
  • It is sexy. No doubt. Makes the Touch(original) look ugly
  • Very thin
  • Touchflo 3D is slow, but impressive
  • Takes a while to boot(more than a minute)

But, I won’t be buying it. Why?

  • Not Quad-band. I need a world phone
  • Poor battery life
  • Slow interface
  • Less available RAM(just 55MB from 192MB of RAM. 64MB is pre-reserved for GPU. Out of the rest 128MB of RAM, you get 55MB in the end)

Looks like, I’ll be buying a TYTN II or a Touch Cruise in the end then. What do you say guys?

*excuse the poor camera quality. I did not have my camera with me. Picture taken with my friend’s SE P990i
