Me Impressed with HTC Touch Diamond? NO, I'm not

I went to my local store to check out the latest Gadgets available there. I saw a Touch Diamond and used it for a while.

My impressions:

  • VGA is beautiful on the 2.8″ screen
  • It is sexy. No doubt. Makes the Touch(original) look ugly
  • Very thin
  • Touchflo 3D is slow, but impressive
  • Takes a while to boot(more than a minute)

But, I won’t be buying it. Why?

  • Not Quad-band. I need a world phone
  • Poor battery life
  • Slow interface
  • Less available RAM(just 55MB from 192MB of RAM. 64MB is pre-reserved for GPU. Out of the rest 128MB of RAM, you get 55MB in the end)

Looks like, I’ll be buying a TYTN II or a Touch Cruise in the end then. What do you say guys?

*excuse the poor camera quality. I did not have my camera with me. Picture taken with my friend’s SE P990i

Gmail Contact Manager updated

Gmail’s auto-added contacts can lead to too much address book clutter. One of the advantages of automatically creating contacts is that all of the addresses you email subsequently show up in auto-complete. We wanted to preserve this benefit while giving you the ability to have a clean, uncluttered contact list, and we’ve come up with a solution that’s rolling out this week. It separates your contacts into two groups: “My Contacts” and “Suggested Contacts.”

My Contacts contains the contacts you explicitly put in your address book (via manual entry, import or sync) as well as any address you’ve emailed a lot (we’re using five or more times as the threshold for now).

Suggested Contacts is where Gmail puts its auto-created contacts. By default, Suggested Contacts you email frequently are automatically added to My Contacts, but for those of you who prefer tighter control of your address books, you can choose to disable usage-based addition of contacts to My Contacts (see the checkbox in the screenshot above). Once you do this, no matter how many times you email an auto-added email address it won’t move to My Contacts Continue reading “Gmail Contact Manager updated”

Chinese Asus site is showing a new EEE PC 900 with a 30GB HDD. I guess, they are learning something from the competition. But, I have a question for the ASUS. Are they crazy? They are going to confuse the potential customers with so many variations between the models! I took a screenshot from the chinese asus website:

Quick look at Opera Mobile 9.5 beta

The 9.51 beta 1 was released yesterday. I installed it on my device and here is a quick small review of it.

The Cab file weighs a whopping 8689kb!(8.9MB)

It takes a while to install it, approximately 2-3mins

As soon as you type the first letter, it searches your Bookmarks and displays them. You type in second letter and they will go away. Also, it automatically fetches your IE favorites

Ok ok! My website sure looks weird in Opera Mobile. I notice that the columns are auto-configured to display only a certain amount of text that would fit in once you zoom-in.

It certainly looks better in landscape and is recommened to be used to landscape as it lets it to fit more.

..and it did not take me long to get this message :( ..and I’m using single tab!

uh oh! this is what happens when you are using a device with 64mb of RAM
