UK Retailer Recalls Webbook – Linux Not Popular, Windows still the Choice

Uh uh. Carphone Warehouse customers aren’t quite happy to use with netbook which runs Linux. The reason is that they not comfortable using the OS. The company saw a vast number of customers returning the netbooks due to the Linux OS. As a result, they are installing Window XP which seems to be more comfortable with customers.

According to me, they should have gone with easier version of Linux like Xandros, which is simply the most user friendly and easiest OS I’ve ever come accross. The 10.2 inch CW was released in July.

It is a powerful Tablet PC, which has capacitive digitizer, which uses the same technology that is used in iPhone.

Epson has launched its own Netbook. Ok, that not-so-charming in terms of looks. Also, it is only available in Japan. It costs around US $480.

UMID Clamshell Specs Prices

UMID Clamshell Specs PricesChippy of UMPCportal has been able to get new images of UMID from Korea.

Here are some highlights of the product:

  • The battery is 17Wh and thus should give 4hrs+ battery life.
  • Very small in size (smaller than Fujitsu U2010)
  • Just 6.22″ wide!

It can infact fit in a jacket pocket. Since, it is clamshell, the screen is always protected too unlike UX series from SONY. The price is not available yet and it will be ready on 2009.

I’ve been waiting for such device from since the original iPhone came out. Big display, easy to use interface, powerful processor, tons of program memory, those are some of the qualities I was looking in a true iPhone contender. After a lot of wait, well, it is finally here! THE HTC TOUCH HD

Recipe: Take a HTC touch Diamond, put in a 3.8″ display, remove D-Pad, add a 3.5mm headphone jack and you will have the HTC TOUCH HD!

By it’s looks, one would assume that it is just another iPhone-wannabe, but that is where the story ends. The HTC TOUCH HD is the first truly amazing muscle phone containing massive 3.8″ display having a very high WVGA resolution (800 x 480).

Keepin' it real fake – 2PG TC8281

Ok, this portable gaming machine looks like a bit like Sony PSP, but don’t expect it to play any PSP games. It is just another cheap chinese rip-off, the 2PG TC8281handheld plays 8-bit and 16 bit retro games that come only on special multi-game cartridges.
The 2PG console comes with five built-in games, as-well-as an additional “112 in 1″ game cartridge, for a total of 117 games for under $50. Hundreds of additional games can be played if you know where to look for the proper cartridges. The system also has an AV out and comes with a funky-looking Playstation clone controller so you can play games on your TV.

If you’ve an appetite for such cheap Chinese stuff or if you’re unable to afford a PSP, you can get your hands on one of these from DealExtreme for $48.80 USD.

Orange announces Eee PC 901 with integrated 3G

Orange has just launched the ASUS EEE PC 901 with integrated 3G. What does this means? This means that you won’t have to use the Icon 225 dongle to get onto the network.

The specs of the original 901 have not changed much, but this time the 3G connectivity is on-board, thus eliminating the need for the dongle.

For £25 per month, you can get one with “Internet Everywhere” plan which has 3GB data allowance and 100 texts. There are two colors to choose from: black or pink. One for you and one for your lady :!:
