Backup those favorites! [Opera Mobile 9 Tip]

Unfortunately, Opera Mobile does not give you an easy to backup the favorites that you’ve made on your device. The odd part is that unlike Netfront which shares it’s favorites with the Internet Explorer mobile and vice-versa, Opera manages the favorites separately. If you are going to buy a new device or updating the ROM of your device, you might want to backup those favorites so that you don’t have to do the tedious task of remaking the favorites again.

Follow these steps to backup your favorites, if Opera came with your device:

  • Using file explorer on your device, go to windowsOpera9
  • backup the file named opera6.adr to your desktop or somewhere secure on your device. We suggest storage card as it’s contents don’t get erased away when a hard reset is committed

If Opera didn’t come on your device and you have installed it manually:

  • Using file explorer, go to Application DataOpera9
  • backup the file named opera6.adr to your desktop or somewhere secure on your device. We suggest storage card as it’s contents don’t get erased away when a hard reset is committed

To restore the favorites on your new device or freshly hard resetted device, install Opera and overwrite the file the existing opera6.adr
