Clevo M810L netbook looks like a book?

Clevo is going to launch its own netbook this year, M810L. Although hardware-wise, it looks similar to the current netbooks, but due to its squarish chassis, it looks far different than the other netbooks you would come across so far. According to the theinquirer, it looks like a book. I did not believe them until I saw this photo. A book with a microphone and earphone jack in the front?

Specifications

  • 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
  • 10.1-inch screen
  • upto 2GB of RAM
  • Wi-Fi
  • 3G and Bluetooth

It is planned to be launched later this month.

Acer to launch App Store for Windows Mobile devices

With so many companies launching their own appstores, why would Acer want to sit back? But, we  do not want to get our hopes up so much. Why? Because whenever we expect these companies to launch a proper app store, these companies comes with app stores that are nothing more than glorified mobile versions of pocket gear or handango website that open in IE mobile (see this, and this).

Lenovo Ideapad S9e released in Japan

Lenovo has launched Ideapad S9e in Japan. It is quite similar to the Lenovo Ideadpad S10 which we reviewedfew days back except for the fact that it has 8.9-inch display compared to the 10.2-inch display found in S10. Another major difference is the battery capacity. While the S10 came with a 3-cell battery which barely lasted 2.5 hours, the S9e comes with extended battery, which claims to give you 6.5 hours. Here are some specs of it:

Linux looses even more netbook market share

The original EEE 700-series first came with Linux distro, Xandros. However, soon the company learned that the majority of the people want to run Windows OS on their netbooks. Currently, almost all the netbooks run Windows XP as their OS.

Personally, it is due to fact that people have developed a perception that Linux is only for hardcore geeks which is not true at all. However, we have to admit that the App Store (package manager) in Linux needs to be more friendly. Users often get confused when they are required to execute scripts, grant access etc.

HTC's Windows Mobile sales down in Q1 2009

Sales of HTC’s Windows Mobile devices have dropped by nearly a million as compared to last year. HTC shipped 1-1.5 million devices in the Q1 2009 as compared to the 2-2.5 million devices in Q1 2008. Another bad news for Windows Mobile is that the Android sales are picking up at quite a high rate, much higher than what HTC expected. Android sales are going to reach nearly 1 million by the end of Q1 2009.

It is high time for the Microsoft to speed up the development process of Windows Mobile 7, otherwise Microsoft will have a tough time in keeping the Windows Mobile manufactures faithful to Windows Mobile and at the same time, preventing them to jump to other mobile platforms like Android OS.
