Best Software Awards 2008 Winners Announced

The Winners in Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine’s Eighth Annual Best Software Awards for Windows Mobile software have been announced at www.Smartphonemag.com/Awards.  Eighty members of the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine Board of Experts judged 936 Windows Mobile products in 194 Pocket PC and Smartphone categories. Winners are also listed in the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine 2009 Resource Guide first seen late November.

Apple Releases Apple TV 2.2 Update

Apple has released the Apple TV 2.2 update tonight.

Owners of Apple TV can download the new updates from their Apple TV’s by accessing the “Update Software” menu option in their Apple TV’s settings.
Some security issues have been addressed and Apple has also included support for features introduced in iTunes 8.0, including Genius playlists.

Nintendo announces 3rd Gen Nintendo DS

Nintendo has just announced the 3rd generation of Nintendo DS, the DSi. Not just a cosmetic remodel of the DS Lite, the DSi incorporates several physical changes. The DSi is approximately 2.6mm thinner and will sport bigger screens sized at 3.25 inches (previous models had 3 inch screens). As Nintendo said recently, the GBA (Gameboy Advance) is now a thing of the past, the GBA slot is no more, and in place of the GBA slot is a SD card slot.

SONY Electronics kicks-off "Mission For A Million" James Bond Promotion tied to "Quantum Of Solace"

Sony Electronics today announced a national promotion called “Mission for a Million” developed in support of the upcoming James Bond film Quantum of Solace. The promotion, which brings together Sony’s leadership in high-definition with one of the most recognized movie franchises in history, allows people to compete for a chance to win a $1 million grand prize :!:

HOW TO: upgrade RAM or Hard Disk in ASUS EEE 1000H

When it comes to upgrading RAM in the ASUS EEE PCs, it is no hidden truth that it is a very easy job. Even though 1GB RAM in the ASUS EEE 1000H seems to be very sufficient, but there are some power users which would like to more RAM if:

  • they wish to run Vista, which always like more RAM
  • if they want to use RAMdisk (see this article to implement RAMdisk)
  • just for fun!

I was getting many requests by the users to write a simple guide to upgrade RAM on the EEE 1000H, which I reviewed just a couple of days ago.

Use a Phillips “crosshead” screwdriver to open the RAM and hard disk access door

EEE 1000H makes swapping the HDD so easily. Below the HDD, is the RAM chip.

Gently, take the RAM chip out by moving both of the holders outside. The chip will come out.

Take it out and slide in the new RAM. Take extra care of the holders. This is the RAM which comes with the ASUS 1000H. It is A-Data branded DDR2 RAM with 400MHz bus speed.

Sony Ericsson to Cut 2,000 Jobs Worldwide

It is not a hidden fact that the world market is undergoing recession. Sony Ericsson has announced today that it has decided to cut 2,000 jobs in it’s worldwide organizations.

“Sony Ericsson recognises that market conditions have changed very rapidly and action must be taken to ensure that it can remain competitive in the dynamic and fast-paced telecommunications industry. Today the company confirms that it is beginning to implement a plan to align its operations and resources worldwide to meet an increasingly competitive business environment and to help restore its capability for profitable growth. The measures that are being taken by Sony Ericsson are aimed at becoming a faster, more agile and more cost efficient organisation.
