The first tablet with Rockchip RK3288 will soon be out by iFive, a Chinese company. Meanwhile we were able to check out the performance and benchmarks of Rockchip RK3288 CPU. The first tablet to use is called iFive Mini 3 and it packs 8.9 inch display, 2GB RAM, front and rear camera and runs Android operating system.

Rockchip RK3288 Benchmark

As you can see above, the processor is backed by ARM Mali T760 GPU. Compared to the outgoing RK3188 from Rockchip, let us see how the RK3288 fares in GFXbench 2.7 T-REX HD and 2.5 Egypt HD.

Rockchip RK3288 Benchmark Review and Performance

As you can see RK3288 is a massive improvement over the RK3188 that was used in wide range of Chinese tablets. This is chiefly due to the fact that RK3288 has Cortex A17 architecture and runs at 1.8 GHz. RK3188 runs at 1.6 GHz and is based on Cortex A9 which is much inferior than A17. In other words, the new chip is about 50 percent faster in CPU performance.

SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

sandisk extreme pro usb 3.0 review

Design, Features

The entire body of the SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 is made of plastic. Measuring 0.54 x 0.8 x 2.75 inches, it weighs 0.5 ounces. Our review unit came with massive 128 GB capacity. While you can flash it in any file system format, we suggest going with the FAT 32 as only then you will enjoy its encryption software’s Mac OS X compatibility. SanDisk also offers 2 gigabytes of free online storage.

Encryption via SanDisk Secure Access

sandisk-secure-accessThe flash drive maker has included a copy of Secure Access that offers password protection and secure partition with 128 bit AES encryption. Mac users will have to download it from SanDisk’s website since only windows version is included on disk.

Benchmarks and Performance

SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive benchmarkTo enjoy the full USB 3.0 speeds, you must be using a computer that has USB 3.0. As you can see in aforementioned screenshot of Crystal disk mark, we see it hitting 260 MB/s read and 245 MB/s write speeds. SanDisk claims 260 MB/s and 240 MB/s read and write speeds, so the claims are totally legit.

Extreme Pro 3.0 vs Extreme 3.0

SanDisk claims that the Extreme 3.0 will achieve 170 MBps write speed and 190 MBps read, but in our tests we got 110 MBps write and 105 MBps read which are not shabby in any manner. However, Extreme Pro speeds are much, much better.

SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive vs Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 vs Flash Voyager GT

In comparison to the other USB 3.0 drives, Kingston Data Traveler Ultimate 3.0 and Flash Voyager GT, SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 was the clear winner.

So what is missing?

Linux compatibility – While the flash drive is compatible with Linux operating systems, the encryption app is not.

Bloat ware – There is no need to bundle a 60 day McAfee Internet Security suite, GoToMyPC, RoboForm Password Manager, Club SanDisk and an eBay sidebar tool for Internet Explorer on the drive.

SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Review Summary

Vido W10 Review

While China has flooded the tablet market with cheap Android tablets, the manufactures there are yet to properly utilize the Windows tablet market. This is chiefly due to the licensing fees for Windows, whereas the Android is totally free. Meet Vido W10 tablet, a tablet that runs Windows 8.1 operating system on a 10 inch display and powered by Bay Trail Intel Atom processor. Read Vido W10 review to find out more about it.

Vido W10 Review

Vido W10 Specs

System: Windows 8.1
Screen: 10.1-inch 1280 × 800 resolution IPS screen, supports 10-point input
CPU: Intel Atom Z3770 quad-core processor, Bay Trail core, highest frequency of 2.4GHz
GPU: Intel HD Graphics
Memory: 2GB DDR3 (dual channel)
HDD: 32GB/64GB eMMC SSD; supports micro SD card expansion
Interfaces: USB3.0 × 1, USB2.0 × 1, HDMI × 1, 3.5 mm earphone jack × 1, Micro USB × 1
Camera: Front and Rear 2 megapixels.

Vido W10 specs

The Vido W10 tablet is very thin, especially if you compare to the other Windows 8 tablets out there. And unlike some of the ultra thin tablets, the W10 does not compromise on the interface department. As mentioned in the specs above, it has HDMI, USB 2.0, 3.0, and micro USB ports.

Vido w10 performance

The screen resolution of Vido W10 is not earth shattering, but given the small screen size (10.1 inch), the 1280×800 pixels look sharp. Color reproduction is decent – definitely better than the netbooks.

Now, let us talk about its performance. The new Bay trail is optimized for Windows 8, and it runs mighty fast. The performance of the Intel Atom Z3770 quad core processor when coupled with speedy eMMC SSD is, in fact at par with the Core Duo E5500 desktop processor in real world. You can run 1080p videos with no problem on it. CPU utilization is close to 45 percent when playing a full HD video.

Vido W10 emmc ssd review

In the 32 GB version, you get only 13 – 15 gigabytes of free space. So, if you are planning to store a lot of data on your Vido W10, consider getting the 64 GB model. You can also use the micro SD card to expand storage.

While we always prefer real world performance and not benchmarks, some of us like to see benchmark numbers before shelling out money. In the Cinebench R11.5 benchmark test, the W10 got 5.92 in OpenGL and 1.18 points in CPU test. You can find more benchmark numbers at cpudistro. Here are the numbers from crystal disk mark test.

Cinebench z3770

Battery life of Vido W10 should be pretty amazing with 8000 mAh battery, right? Well, it depends on how you use it. If you set the screen brightness to 50 percent and do only web browsing, you will be able to get 5-6 hours of battery life.

While this does not sounds like a lot compared to the Android tablets with similar capacity batteries, you should keep in mind that with W10, you will be more productive on the move as it can run Office 2013, Photoshop and any x86 / x64 app out there just fine – like a regular laptop.

CUBE Talk 7X Review Specs Price

Chinese tablet company, Cube has been on fire lately. Just last month, it released Talk 79S, and few days back, it released the Talk 7X, which we will be reviewing today, courtesy of imp3. The Talk 7X is more portable, thanks to smaller 7 inch display. This screen is identical to the one being used in Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (PLS type).

CUBE Talk 7X Price. It is being sold for 399 Yuan (USD 65) and you can buy it in black or white colors. The body is made of plastic.

Design wise, the CUBE Talk 7X is excellent. Power button and volume control keys are arranged correctly on the right side, allowing one handed operation. On the top, you will find a headphone jack and USB port.

CUBE Talk 7X

Samsung’s PLS screen is at par with the standard IPS display – it has decent color reproduction and viewing angles are excellent too.

There are two micro SD card slots, both of which can easily expand the mediocre internal flash storage. There is a SIM card slot too, allowing the user to make phone calls.

CUBE Talk 7X sim card slot micro sd

While using the CUBE Talk 7X, you experience no lag. Entire operation is very smooth and there are no significant delays. This is chiefly due to powerful Mediatek MT8312 processor, which is based on low powered ARM Cortex A7 architecture. It is manufactured using 28 nm processing and runs at 1.3 GHz. The CPU is backed by dual core Mali 400 GPU.

The CUBE Talk 7X is equipped with a gig of RAM and out of box, 600 MB is taken by OS’ services and background apps. Out of 4 GB flash storage, you get paltry 1.5 GB.

CUBE Talk 7X test

We are not into benchmarks, but you get 12541 in the AnTuTu benchmark test.

mt8312 benchmark

Call quality and signal performance are satisfactory. The radio also supports 3G, and we were able to enjoy fast Internet speeds in no time.

Web browsing experience is excellent. Chinese sites use a lot of flash content, and this tablet does not come with pre installed flash plugin. If lack of flash does not bother you, you will do just fine.

CUBE Talk 7X Review Summary

CUBE Talk 7X Review Summary. The performance of this tablet is very satisfactory, especially when you take its low USD 65 price tag into consideration. Its display is very bright. Thanks to good optimization by CUBE, the 7x runs like a butter, even though it has a dual core processor.
