For the anniversary of the 8086 processor, Intel is planning a Core i7-8086K with 5 GHz. There have been several indications in the past. Intel celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 8086 on June 8th, so Computex is looking forward to seeing the Core i7-8086K next week.
Now, the first retailers in Europe and in the western region seem to include this processor in their database under their product number BX80684I78086K in their systems. In the product specifications, there is also the corresponding information on the clock rates. These should be at 4.0 GHz base clock and 5.0 GHz boost clock. For comparison: The Core i7-8700K offers a basic clock of 3.7 GHz, boosts with all cores to 4.3 GHz and comes to a maximum of 4.7 GHz. Intel will make a certain selection for the Core i7-8086K, making the processor not only a coveted model by name.
Regarding the price, it depends on conversion and tax, so it is between 480 to 500 euros. Thus, the surcharge would be around 150 euros compared to the Core i7-8700K, which is available for 330 euros.
Intel will hold a keynote at Computex 2017 on June 5th 2018. On this day, an announcement of the Core i7-8086K is expected. Whether Intel will say something about the expected Coffee Lake-S with eight cores remains to be seen. Also expected is the announcement of new motherboards with Z390 chipset.
